Choosing the right dentist for your child is an important decision. After all, the smile is one of the first things people notice about them – theirs must be taken care of. When choosing a dental office, you want the perfect dentist for all general and cosmetic dentistry under one roof for the lifetime of your child.
Nevada Orthodontics & Pediatric Dentistry is that office. With treatments from your child’s first tooth through adolescent orthodontic treatment, our office provides it all.
Pediatric Dentistry
The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends that children see a dentist by their first birthday. This establishes healthy habits, limits the chances of a fear of the dentist, and ensures that everything is progressing well.
Early childhood cavities can develop quickly and cause tooth decay and pain for your child. Regular dental checkups (every six months) can catch issues with enamel or other concerns before they get out of hand.
Dr. Travis Neu is trained in working with all pediatric dental patients, even those with special needs. Establishing your child here from an early age will help build the professional relationship that leads to trust as they grow up.
Our pediatric dentistry services include:
Sealants
Tooth-colored fillings
Crowns and caps
Monitoring for braces
Regular exams and cleaning
Fluoride treatments
Treating trauma
Extractions of primary and permanent teeth
Phase I Orthodontic Treatment
Phase I orthodontic treatment gives your younger child a head start at a healthy smile. The American Association of Orthodontists recommends that children see an orthodontist as early as seven years old. Dr. Faranesh can evaluate your child at this age to see if they need orthodontic treatment.
Phase I begins around age eight or nine. The goal is to correct the growth of your child’s jaw and any bite problems. It can also ensure enough room for their permanent teeth to come in correctly.
If your child shows signs of needing early orthodontic treatment, they can see Dr. Faranesh in our office for an evaluation and potential treatment plan. Receiving these early interventions can prevent the need for orthodontic treatment as an adult and the potential for the need to extract a tooth from arising.
Phase II Orthodontic Treatment
Phase II orthodontic treatment begins around age 11 or once your child has gotten all of their permanent teeth. Dr. Faranesh also handles this stage of treatment, allowing your child to continue with the relationship they’ve built with him during phase I.
Phase II’s goal is to ensure all your child’s teeth are in the right location and their bite is stable and correct. On average, this phase lasts 12 to 24 months and can be done using traditional braces, ceramic braces, or clear aligners.
